Introduction to Season 2

We are here in 2025! Glad to see you all and thank you all for a great 2024 season. This blog post will be your guide to season 2 of our league and as always if you have any additional questions, please do message me in the discord or email.

The start day of week one and the deadline to join is January 20th, 8:00 AM EST! Let us start this off strong!

How to Register

You all can register in two steps.

What to Expect During the League

Most of the same from last season with some quality improvements on rules and other things. Rules are placed at the end of this section so please do review that. For example, one new thing is the use of sideboards. This will allow players to have a better chance when they face bad matchups. We want to limit the sideboard to a max of ten cards that you can exchange because if not you can just change the whole deck and that would be stupid and unfair ha. I am hoping to have more teams join this season to both be able to have better prizing and more weeks so that you all can have as many chances to make it to playoffs as you can.

For shipping it will be one big shipping day at the end of the season, The two shipping days from season 1 made the cost not go very well and it gave more chances for the USPS to lose packages and be slow. With one I hope to give you all one big satisfying package that represents the full amount of time and effort you all put into the season.

All games will be done in the discord like last time. We will try and do a weekly report of the decks played so I will be using the discussion channels more. I will need each team to just post the list they used in the discussion channel for your team. Next, we will have a highlight team of the week where we will record their matches and post it on the yt. Also thinking of the possibility of letting others record the matches and put them up on their channels for more content for you all. We will try and commentate as best as we can but will be looking forward to having Mr. Rodgers commentate for us if he has the time and desire.

Updates

January 4th:

I have created the prizing which you will find in the image below. I went back and forth with finding a way to do it with having losers get some things and it made everything super expensive and numbers go through the roof. So I had to remember this is a competition and that everyone here should be playing to win so I have included prizing for winning teams each week and more prizing for our playoff winners and champions to better incentivize everyone to be super try hard and do their best. With that, I have had to raise the price to accommodate all the expenses and prizes. Please let me know what you think in the discord and if you would like to join please do start forming your teams and signing up! Also, the more teams we get the more prizes I will add for each week such as some L rarities or more promos! The prize is based on 8 teams joining.

January 8th:

So for this update, I want to talk about some changes I made to prizing and to sideboard gameplay since a lot of questions regarding it were coming up.

Sideboard Clarification-

So some people want it and some people don't, we are only on season 2 and I want to find things that become a staple when we run these leagues so we will be keeping Sideboarding for this season.

Deck Construction:

10 card max in side
Only 1 sideboard per week
You may change the cards on the sideboard each week
You must submit the list before you play your weekly match. https://forms.gle/VVAcYQuKvqAP1h9J9
You have the option to have a side or to have no side but you cannot change mid-week
Sideboards will be shown at the start of the week to all teams so they can strategize on deck choices going into each week.
Sideboards can consist of neutral cards even if your 3 classes do not have neutral as a class
You may use your sideboard in the second and third matches of each BO3 (No you cannot side on the first match you play against a player! I.E Game 1 of any BO3)
Sideboards can consist of cards that help all three classes, 2 of the 3 classes, or just 1 of the 3 classes your team has picked. (if we were in person you all would be able to share sideboards that would be fun hehe, No you cannot do this on this season for anyone wondering)
Example of #9, Your side could be 10 abyss cards or your side can be 3 abyss cards, 3 haven cards, 3 forest cards, and 1 neutral card. Any combination of cards can be used they just MUST BE WITHIN THE CLASSES YOU HAVE CHOSEN
That is pretty much all I have for now for sides if I need to add more I will update to clarify.

Prizing Update:

So this update is just simply adding international prizing to the already set-in-stone USA prizing since we do have some international players interested. We are still basing this on 8 paid teams joining and only after 8 teams will we consider adding more teams to the roster and increasing the prizing for you all. If we get less than 8 teams we will have to reduce the prizing from week 1 up to retain the championship prizing. Here is the updated infographic below. For anyone wondering, no USA players can NOT earn international prizes, and vice versa for international players this is due to shipping complications and other factors.

February 12th Update

Rule Changes: Proxies will be permitted. Please ensure they are nicely printed if possible.

Reason: As I am joining the league and do not possess all the necessary cards for my decks, it is only fair to allow other players to use proxies as well.

New Team!

There are some changes now that we have odd teams. Hopefully, we can get one more team and if so I shall update all standings and schedules.

Bye Weeks

Due to 5 teams, each team will now have 1 week where they do not have to play against a team and they can use it for rest and recovery and possible scouting. Since one team will be always out of a match each week a bye week is granted to all teams to keep the standings the same.

8 Weeks to 7 Weeks

With only 5 teams and adding into the bye the math was not mathing to be able to have each team play against each team once while having a bye. An extra week would result in an uneven # of byes for 1 team and 4 teams would play a game against another team they have already previously played resulting in standings to be unfair. Prizing from week 6 of the regular season has been moved to playoffs with now having a winning and losing prize for that playoff week.

Some other changes I am considering before the February 17 start date

Submitting the sideboard is not mandatory, which may add an unnecessary layer of confusion.

Implement a system to track decks played for data collection and a weekly video recap.

Create a stream/recording overlay that clearly displays the game's events.

Order the championship playmat early to send it to the winner immediately or wait to add the name and team name, resulting in a shipping delay for the champion team.
